CHARACTERISTICS:

Clenbuterol (4-amino-alpha-[(tert-butylamino)methyl]-3,5-dichlorobenzyl alcohol hydrochloride) is a beta-2 adrenergic agonist that has bronchodilatory properties, as well as other effects, with minimal effect. in the cardiovascular system.

It is a colorless syrup, with a pleasant flavor.

VENTIPULMIN® SYRUP (clenbuterol hydrochloride) is antagonized by beta adrenergic blocking agents.

INDICATIONS:

VENTIPULMIN® SYRUP (clenbuterol hydrochloride) is indicated for the treatment of horses suffering from airway obstruction, such as occurs in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:

Administer orally twice a day.

The starting dose is 0.5 mL/100 pounds of body weight [0.5 mL/45.36 kg] (0.8 mcg/kg) twice daily.

Initial dose: Administer 0.5 mL/100 pounds [0.5 mL/45.36 kg] (0.8 mcg/kg) for 3 days (6 treatments).

If no improvement is observed, administer 1.0 mL/100 lbs [1.0 mL/45.36 kg] (1.6 mcg/kg) for 3 days (6 treatments).

If no improvement is seen, administer 1.5 mL/100 lb [1.5 mL/45.36 kg] (2.4 mcg/kg) for 3 days (6 treatments).

If no improvement is seen, administer 2.0 mL/100 lb [2.0 mL/45.36 kg] (3.2 mcg/kg) for 3 days (6 treatments).

If the horse does not respond to clenbuterol treatment, treatment should be discontinued.

The recommended duration of treatment at the effective dose is 30 days.

At the end of this treatment period, the medication should be discontinued to determine recurrence of signs. If signs appear again, the 30-day treatment regimen can be repeated.

If treatment is repeated, the gradual dose increase scheme should be repeated.

Instructions for administration:

Remove the safety cap and seal; replace with enclosed plastic dispenser cap. Remove the dispensing tip cover and connect the syringe (without needle). Extract the appropriate volume of VENTIPULMIN® SYRUP . Administer orally to the horse. Replace the cover over the dispensing tip to prevent leaks.
