Indicated as prophylaxis and/or therapy for piroplasmosis (babesiosis), anaplasmosis, and secondary infections caused by oxytetracycline-sensitive organisms. Particularly useful in cases where clinical differential diagnosis in the field is difficult.

Powder and diluent for injectable suspension.

Formula:
Once suspended, each ml contains: Oxytetracycline Hydrochloride:  100 mg, 4-4 (Diazoamino) Dibenzamidine Diaceturate:  50 mg, Diluent q.s.:  1 ml.

Species: 
Beef and dairy cattle, horses, swine, sheep, and goats.

Dosage:
Beef and dairy cattle, horses, swine, sheep, and goats: 1 ml/ 15 kg BW or 6.6 mg Oxytetracycline, 3.3 mg Diaceturate per kg BW Frequency: Every 24 h. Suggested duration: 3 days.

Differences:

  • Anapiro 2 x 1 g (20 ml vial):
    Capacity: Recommended for a total treatable weight less than 300 kg BW.
    Use: Generally for young, small animals or for a smaller number of animals.
  • Anapiro 3 x 1.5 g (30 ml vial):

    Capacity: Recommended for animals > 300 kg BW.
    Use:  Larger presentation, ideal for adult cattle or horses that require a higher dosing volume due to their weight.

Withdrawal Period:
30 days. Milk: 60 hrs.

Contraindications:
Do not administer to patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formula. Do not mix with other medications or products. Do not administer by any route other than IM.

Warnings:
Oxytetracycline has an affinity for chelating calcium ions, which leads to deposition in bone tissue and growing dentin. Oxytetracycline has a synergistic effect with Erythromycin and Neomycin but is antagonistic with Penicillin.
