PROPERTIES

Aminoforte® F is a high-concentration, sterile aqueous injectable solution that provides a suitable source of amino acids, electrolytes, vitamins and sugars that restores the vital balance needed to recover animals in emergency situations.

Aminoforte® F contains ten essential amino acids described for animal nutrition, in addition to glutamic acid and cysteine.

In ruminants, rumen microorganisms are capable of synthesizing such molecules, although a supply of such substances is necessary to achieve maximum growth rates or milk production.

B vitamins and nicotinamide are water-soluble vitamins that are not retained in the body in appreciable quantities, so exogenous supplementation is necessary, especially in specific physiological or pathological situations. These vitamins are involved in countless metabolic functions, participate in the proper functioning of the nervous system, and are essential for the production of red blood cells and DNA synthesis. As with essential amino acids, microorganisms present in the rumen are capable of synthesizing these vitamins in quantities adequate for normal host metabolism and for adequate concentration in milk; nevertheless, deficiencies in thiamine and cyanocobalamin can occur under certain conditions.

The electrolytes present in Aminoforte® F provide the body with the elements most easily lost during periods of dehydration. Glucose is the basic and rapidly utilized source of energy, so its parenteral administration in solution form constitutes a fundamental source of energy in deficiency and/or pathological states in which oral intake is reduced or impeded.

INDICATIONS

As an immediate source of amino acids, dextrose, B vitamins and electrolytes for the treatment of acute states of convalescence in weakened animals or those subjected to intense effort, stress, shock, dehydration, chronic diseases, parasitosis and as supportive therapy in cases of severe dehydration due to vomiting or diarrhea where it helps to replace the loss of electrolytes and proteins (in this case oral or parenteral fluid therapy is also necessary).

DOSAGE AND ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATION

  • It is recommended to administer 1 mL per 5 kg of body weight , between 1 and 3 times a day, depending on the severity of the case and the physician's criteria.

It can be administered intravenously, intramuscularly, subcutaneously, or intraperitoneally in cattle, camelids, sheep, pigs, dogs, and cats; only intravenous administration is recommended for horses.

The administration of Aminoforte® F does not exclude specific treatment of the pathological condition affecting the animal.

TARGET SPECIES: Bovines (meat and milk), Ovines, Porcines, Equines, Canines and Felines.

WITHDRAWAL TIME: No withdrawal period.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

  • No contraindications have been described during pregnancy and lactation.
  • Do not administer to animals with a known history of hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formula.
  • Signs of pain and vomiting may occur if the infusion is administered at an excessively rapid rate. In such cases, administration should be discontinued until the signs disappear, and then the infusion can be restarted at a slower rate.

ADVERSE REACTIONS

  • Hypersensitivity reactions may occur very rarely ; if they occur, discontinue treatment.
  • Local reaction (swelling) may occur at the injection site in animals up to one week after administration.
  • Shock may occur during intravenous administration. In this case, the medication will be discontinued and appropriate measures will be taken.

SPECIFIC PRECAUTIONS TO BE TAKEN BY THE PERSON ADMINISTERING THE MEDICINE TO ANIMALS

  • Do not handle this product if you know you are sensitive or if you have been advised not to work with such preparations.
  • Handle this product with great care to avoid exposure, taking all recommended precautions.
  • If symptoms appear after exposure, such as a skin rash, you should seek medical advice and show this warning to the doctor. Swelling of the face, lips, or eyes, or difficulty breathing, are more serious symptoms and require urgent medical attention.

INTERACTIONS: None have been described.

OVERDOSE

Given the safety of its components, overdose is unlikely, although in such cases it is recommended to discontinue administration and initiate appropriate symptomatic treatment.

WARNINGS

  • Administration should be carried out at a slow infusion rate and following normal aseptic precautionary measures for administering parenteral solutions.
  • In case of subcutaneous administration, inject a maximum of 25 ml per application point.
  • In prolonged treatments, frequent monitoring of hydroelectrolytic balance is recommended.
